Everyday Makeup Routine

Hello everyone!

SURPRISE!!! I decided to start a YouTube channel. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, so I thought it was time to finally just go for it!

Sephora 2018 VIB Sale HAUL

Happy Tuesday everyone,

I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet! I recently became a Rouge member at Sephora (I don’t know if I should be ashamed or proud LOL) so of course I had to take advantage of this discount! I think the annual Sephora sale is the perfect time to try new products (why not for a discounted price?), as well as stock up on any beauty staples.

WHAT DID I BUY?

Skincare

  • Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm– This was one of my August empties. This stuff is amazing and so refreshing. I literally look forward to taking my makeup off every night with this!
  • Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil– Also a re-purchase. I recently used up all of my Sunday Riley LUNA night sleeping oil. While I loved the Sunday Riley product I found myself wanting to switch back to the Caudalie oil. I think the formula just works a little better with my skin!
  • Biossance Squalene + Vitamin C Rose Oil– Inspired by Song of Style and The August Diaries, I decided to pick this up to spruce up my morning skincare routine. So far I’m loving it!
  • Murad Essential C Toner– Another restock! This is literally my fourth time buying this product. What can I say? It just does the job and doesn’t dry my skin out!
  • Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Cream– Surprise surprise, another repurchase. I love the smell of this cream and it’s SO hydrating without making your skin look oily. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
  • Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask– I love their rose face mask so much, I decided it was worth a shot to give this one a try. So far I’ve used it once and it makes your skin feel super tingly and fresh.

Makeup

  • Smashbox Primerizer– I LOVE this stuff. I recently ran out of it so I obviously had to repurchase it. It really holds your makeup in place throughout the day and acts as a moisturizer. Double whammy!
  • Becca Skin Love Foundation– My favorite YouTuber’s all picked this up, so me being the follower I am was super intrigued. I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. The formula is perfect for the winter and fall months. It leaves your skin looking SO natural and doesn’t oxidize throughout the day.
  • Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer– I was super skeptical about this product because I’ve used the Too Faced Born This Way foundation and wasn’t a huge fan. However, like the Becca foundation, all of my favorite YouTuber’s picked this up so I caved and made the purchase. I am so glad I did. This formula is AMAZING, especially paired with the Becca foundation. You NEED this product.
  • Becca Sunlit Bronzer- I’ve never used a Becca bronzer before but if it’s anything like their foundation and highlighter then it must be fabulous. I’m so excited to try it out.
  • Benefit Volumizing Fiber Brow Gel- Yet another old-school favorite. While I LOVE my Glossier “boy brow” I felt super compelled to repurchase my holy grail Benefit brow gel. I was super sad when it called re-called and I thought it had gotten discontinued so when I saw it on the shelf I couldn’t resist.

Glossier Favorites

Hello everyone!

As promised, today I’m sharing my current favorites from Glossier! Curious about all the hype, I went a little crazy and placed a huge order on their website. IT WAS SO WORTH IT. I love Glossier’s philosophy that prioritizes real people, real priorities, and real looking skin! With spring here and summer right around the corner, these lightweight and basic products are going to be perfect to survive the heat. Today I’m going to rate each product I bought in order from most favorite to least favorite. Stay tuned for a little discount code at the end of this post! Happy reading!

1.CLOUD PAINT BLUSH

This stuff is AMAZING. It blends in so easily with either your fingers or a small stipple brush. I love the rosy glow it provides. I currently have the shade “dusk” but I’m hoping to purchase all of the shades!

2. HALOSCOPE HIGHLIGHTER

This formula is a close runner-up to the cloud paint blush. This product gives the most natural radiant glow and looks a tad bit more effortless than a harsher powder highlight. What makes this product so great for summer is that it doesn’t instantly melt off (like powder products sometimes do) and become streaky.

3. WOWDER POWDER DUO

I’ve never been a huge powder girl, but this stuff ROCKS. It’s so light and doesn’t make you look cakey at all! Instead, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and it takes care of those pesky shiny spots. I like to focus it on my under eyes and my T-zone.

4. STRETCH CONCEALER

When I first gave this a try I wasn’t 100% sold. However, after using it a few more times I’ve decided that this stuff is amazing. It’s a super wet formula, but that makes it super easy to blend and super natural looking. I definitely wouldn’t wear this on its own, but when combined with a lightweight foundation its magic!

5. SKIN PERFECTING TINT

This stuff is 100% a lightweight version of the Mac Cosmetics face and body foundation and I LOVE it. It’s perfect for days that you don’t want to feel like there’s a ton of product on your face. I think this is perfect for going to the beach, running errands, or even if you’re looking extra dead on your way to the gym.

6. GENERATION G LIPSTICKS

To be completely honest, I was a little let down by these. Not to say that I don’t like them, because I do, and I’ve worn them quite a bit, BUT they are very sheer. Wearing them is like, your lips but better, if you look REALLY close. LOL.

7. BOY BROW

I was MOST excited about this product, but sadly it was the biggest letdown. This 100% could very well be because I ordered the wrong color. I definitely should have gotten dark brown instead of black. #oops. Next time I place an order I want to give it another shot and see if a different color makes a difference. However, an issue in general I had was how light the formula was. I feel like it didn’t actually do much for my brows.

Those are all of the beauty products I ordered! I really want to try the Lidstar Duo, the Lash Slick Mascara, and the Boy Brow in my correct shade.

The last thing I want to talk about is their line of skincare care serums. I love that you can purchase them in a set called THE SUPER PACK  or individually! By now you all know that I’m flipping obsessed with skincare so I was so stoked to try out these serums. I’ve only had them for a few weeks so I want to wait at least a month before letting you guys know my thoughts! I just want to make sure that I’m actually seeing real results because of the serums themselves. I’m also looking to try out some more of their skincare products so if you guys have any favorites leave a comment down below!

Spring and Summer 2018 Beauty Staples. Everything I’m Loving Right Now!

Hello everyone!

I’m going to keep today’s post short and simple. As you all know I’ve been delving into the beauty world and loving trying new makeup and skincare products. Today I’m sharing my current beauty favorites. These are the products that I’ve been reaching for the most!

  1. A moisturizing primer- I think moisturizing your skin during any season is a must. However, in the Spring and Summer months I like to leave my skin feeling more natural, rather than packing on a pore perfecting foundation. My go to has been the Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer. It’s the perfect product to prep your skin without feeling like you’re leaving a huge layer of film on your skin. It’s not greasy and is SO lightweight.
  2.  A glowy base- I have been LOVING the L’oreal True Match Lumi Glotion (medium) and the Glow Boosting Drops (golden hour). They are the perfect product’s to give your skin the glow it deserves. I typically like to apply the Glotion as a base after applying primer. For the Boosting Drops I like to mix them into whatever foundation I’m wearing.
  3. A light coverage foundation- I don’t know about you but I sweat A LOT (sorry if that’s TMI), so the last thing I want to do in the Spring and Summer months is put on a full coverage foundation. My current two favorites are the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint (dark) and the Mac Face and Body. The Glossier skin tint is super super super light. I almost wouldn’t even call it a foundation, but it’s good for those fast-paced typical days when you don’t want to stress about sweating off your face. Mac Face and Body has a bit more coverage and is good for any occasion (i.e., going out on the town, going to a nice boujee brunch, going on a date). Like the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint, its still lightweight and make’s your skin look still like your’s only better!
  4. A versatile concealer-  The NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer is a true gem. On lazy days I pop some of this on over my spots and dark under eye circles and call it good, no foundation necessary. However, it can be nice to add a little more coverage to the light foundations I previously mentioned.
  5. A cream/ liquid blush- One of my long-time favorites is the Wet n’ Wild MegaGlo makeup stick (when the nude strikes). It’s super easy to apply and blends in so nicely just using your fingers! More recently, I’ve been loving the Glossier Cloud Paint (dusk) as an alternative to the MegaGlo stick. I like trying to incorporate cream/liquid products during the warmer months because it’s less worrisome when the sweat starts creepin in.
  6. A warm bronzer- I LOVE bronzer. My go to drugstore bronzer is the Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Bronzer (ticket to Brazil). It’s nice and light and has a little bit of sheen so it goes perfectly with any glowing highlight. On the higher end spectrum, I’ve been loving the Bobbi Brown Bronzer (natural). The color I have is a bit deeper so it works well to both sculpt and bronze at the same time.
  7. A bright lip- Spring and Summer are the perfect seasons to break out the bright color lipsticks. If you’ve been following my account you’ll know that I have been obsessed with the Lancôme Matte Shakers (pink wink, magic orange, nude Delhi, and kiss me cherie.) The formula is perfect, it goes on so smooth and doesn’t dry out the lips at all.

Those are all of my absolute musts! I’ve also linked a few other favorites not mentioned in the top 7 just for fun. If you have any Spring and Summer beauty staples please leave a comment below because I’m always looking to try new things!

My Experience With Eyelash Extensions. Would I Get Them Again?

Hello everyone!

It has been AWHILE. As always, I’m not going to make any wack excuses. To be completely honest, I needed to take time for myself. In the last few months (of which I took my little hiatus) I was focusing on finishing college and enjoying every single second of it.

Anyways, I’m back now! I’ve missed working on StyLin a lot. Now as a post-grad student I have more time than ever to create new content. While I take the time to shoot some new images, I thought I’d give you guys a little update on my life.

  • I just got my B.A. in Psychology.
  • I landed my dream job at Nordstrom.
  • I moved into a studio apartment by myself.
  • AND (what today’s post is about) I FINALLY got eyelash extensions. Lol. I know, it’s not that exciting.

If you know me, getting eyelash extensions is something that I have always wanted to do. I would literally go through phases where I wanted them so bad that I would spend hours watching YouTube videos about the whole process, what they’re like, etc., but for some reason, I never could bring myself to quite do it. The other day I made the spontaneous decision to just freaking do it. I booked myself an appointment at Noir Lash Lounge in Seattle…and the rest is history. I’ve had them for a few days now and I LOVE them. My lash technician did an amazing job and made them super natural looking which I’m all about. If you’re at all like me, you will overanalyze every little thing so I thought I’d make it easy and make a quick pro’s and con’s list about them.

Pros:

  • Self-confidence boost! I literally feel like I never have to wear makeup again.
  • Super natural They have so many options and are super helpful in your personal decision of what works best for you. I ended up getting 12’s with a natural curl.
  • Last up to 3 weeks.
  • (Obviously) make your lashes longer! I have super straight stubborn Asian eyelashes so finding the perfect mascara has been quite an adventure. While I’ve found a few that I like, they just never gave me the kind of results I was looking for.
  • They’re waterproof so I can still go swimming, workout, and keep up my daily cleansing.

Cons:

  • They are somewhat high maintenance. While they do last up to 3 weeks before needing a fill, 3 weeks might seem like a pretty frequent need for upkeep. BUT if you think about it, how often do you get your nails done?
  • Had to update and change my beauty routine. I’ve had to re-learn how to wash my face. This seems silly, but I can’t rub my eyes anymore so I’ve been working around them literally. I’ve also had to cut out my favorite Khiels eye cream due to the oil. If you know of any good eye creams with minimal oil PLEASE leave a comment.
  • I feel very aware/ almost paranoid about touching my face. I think this will disappear once I adjust to them for a longer period of time.

So there ya have it, the quick and dirty rundown of my favorite (and least favorite) parts about having eyelash extensions so far. And the answer is yes, I would get them again. I’ve booked my appointment for a fill in the next few weeks so I’ll make sure to update you all then! Let me know if you want to hear more about the upkeep or have any other questions about them!
